Everyone has a story to tell. Ours began with a journey, new friendships and a passion for children’s books in general, and Arabic children’s books in particular.
Our love for books keeps opening new worlds for us. By offering children real stories and visual experiences through high-quality content and fresh formats, we aim to empower children to use their curiosity, playfulness and freedom to explore the world, and all its possibilities.
Why in Arabic? Because it’s the language that brought us together and we’re on a mission to promote it and share its richness with young Arabic readers everywhere. But we’re also out to fill a gap in the market by offering children Arabic books that reflect their daily life, speak to them as equals and enrich their emotional language.
We’re not just storytellers, we’re dreamers too, and we like to dream big! Thanks to a growing portfolio of authors, illustrators and contributors, we want to move children’s Arabic literature forward and move the boundaries that define it into a place of mutual respect and understanding.
Everyone is welcome at Harakat! We’re all about celebrating the differences that make us unique as well as the shared values that bring us together. We do that by creating and sharing stories from different perspectives, colors, genders, cultural backgrounds, beliefs, you name it.
As part of our mission to move Arabic children’s literature forward, we only publish original and unique stories. Before sharing your story with us, please ask yourself this:
Is my story unique enough to stand out yet relevant and engaging enough for young readers?
We promise to give each submission the attention and time it deserves and to reply back within 8 weeks. Please know that we only publish a limited number of books every year. If your manuscript is one of them, we promise that you will be surrounded by a dedicated team of editors and illustrators to bring your story to life. We also promise that you will be fairly compensated for your creativity through good royalty schemes and rights arrangements.
Last but not least, the majority of our books will always be in Arabic, some of our books will be bilingual (Arabic/English) and a few will be Arabic translations of existing books that we absolutely love and want to share with a wider, Arabic-speaking audience. That said, you’re welcome to submit a manuscript in a language other than Arabic and we can work together to achieve the best possible Arabic adaption. We accept submissions in Arabic, English, French, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish.
